Ian is Vice President of Advanced Analytics at Highmark Health, a national blended health organization providing Blue-branded health plans, facility-based care, and other solutions to drive growth, reduce costs and improve outcomes in healthcare. His role covers:
- generating new insights using data science techniques (machine learning, MLOps, natural language processing, predictive modeling, AI, and generative AI)
- using those insights to trigger simple, personalized and proactive actions to support the health of our members, patients, clinicians and clients (and identify where new solutions are needed)
- delivering applied health services research to understand the impact of those actions and continuously improve them, and healthcare more broadly
- implementing automation, AI, and our own portfolio of analytic products to help Highmark’s internal processes work more efficiently
Before joining Highmark, Ian was a senior research analyst for the Nuffield Trust, where he used advanced analytics to study the impact of public policy on the UK's health system. He also previously worked for the UK's healthcare regulator, building and leading their data-driven inspection targeting program for compliance. He holds a BSc in Physics and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering, both from King’s College London.
